WHY NOT SPEND THIS SUMMER BEING PART OF A MUSICAL!?
It wouldn’t be summer without the Spotlight program and this year we are excited to move our program online. After a successful winter online program, we cannot wait to get started on this mainstay of the StoryBook Theatre family.
This summer we have decided to offer two different shows and we are excited to bring these to life earlier than usual to help get students occupied and ready for the fun.
During this five-week program, students will be put through all the parts of the production process including auditions, casting, training, rehearsals and performance. This is a SKILL-BASED program and will include teachers in each discipline of theatre: acting, singing and dancing.
Casting for the performance will be decided by the production/teaching team after the students complete skills testing and audition preparation.
This program is intended for students with experience or a passion for musical theatre.
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
Given this new online world, we can really appreciate that so much is unknown. This program is all online - sadly, singing is still on the list of "unacceptable things to do". That makes doing an in-person musical tricky.
These classes will all be via the Zoom platform.
The evening prior to the start of the class a link with the password will be sent to you and your family.
Students will learn everything for the show to be presented in an online format.
A secondary recording device will be required in order to have the students record themselves singing songs and then these will be submitted via a safe link to our team to then pull together a final production video.
The production video will be assembled with the footage which the students and teachers have created together. This final presentation link will then be sent to families for their children and them to sit and together and watch the show at the scheduled presentation date.
This summer's Spotlight shows.

MATILDA THE MUSICAL Jr.
Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence... and special powers! She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace!
