StoryBook is the leading theatre arts programming for youth in our city. Our "NEVER SAY NO TO A CHILD" mantra allows everyone, regardless of socio-economic status to take part in our programming.
In a typical year, StoryBook offers nearly $100,000 in free or subsidized programming to families and children who may not otherwise be able to afford it. Come explore the wonderful world of Broadway with us! In Musical Theatre for Adults, students will work together through rehearsing musical theatre excerpts for a final showcase performance. This course introduces students to learning and performing choreography and vocal music as well as the basics of acting in a fun and supportive environment. As a bonus, students will learn skills that build confidence and coordination that can be transferred to everyday life!
Over the 8-week course, students will work with their instructors on a cabaret performance, which typically consists of 2-3 musical theatre numbers from a variety of composers and musical theatre genres. This will be performed for an audience on the Monday following the final class.
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
Classes will take place in person at the Beddington Theatre Arts Centre.
FINAL PRESENTATION
The Monday following the final class will include a performance for an audience of friends and family that may include scenes, solos, duets, and/or ensemble numbers. This will be performed along with the Musical Theatre for Young People and Teens programs. The full program runs approximately 75min.
