Callback Invitations
Callback invitations will be sent by 6:00 PM on Thursday, May 27, 2027.
Everyone who auditions will receive an email, regardless of the outcome. Please check your junk or spam folder if you do not see the message in your inbox. The list of artists invited to callbacks will also be posted on this website.
Anyone invited to callbacks is expected to attend each callback to which they are invited. All artists invited to a callback must also attend the required dance call.

Callback times and preparation materials will be included with each invitation.
Casting for our fundraising productions will be drawn from the main season audition call.
If you are unable to attend a callback and the creative team would like to see additional material from you, you may be invited to submit the requested material by video.

By participating in this show, you are expected to be availablefor at least 80% of all rehearsals and 100% of all shows.
Schedules are done prior to the start of rehearsal to accommodate conflicts as best we can. Teams may be willing to work with conflicts based on each artist.
We strongly recommend auditioning with your conflicts noted and let the team make the ultimate decision.

What is the commitment like?
Each show has its own commitment and show schedule. Review these to understand the commitment you are making.
Do SBT Alumni (18+) need to audition again?
No. Returning StoryBook alumni, 18 years or older who have submitted a video audition in the past 3 years have the luxury to simply submit interest in being seen for the different shows. They must complete the online form in order to be considered for callbacks. If you are alumni, you must submit a recent video of you singing.
Is this all volunteer?
Yes.—StoryBook Theatre is a volunteer-driven community theatre. Our performers generously contribute their time and talent, and we support that work by surrounding them with experienced professional directors, designers, and production staff. This approach ensures a high-quality, well-supported process where volunteers can grow, collaborate, and take pride in the work they create for our community.
Are there parts for me?
Yes. With five captivating productions featuring over 100 roles spanning ages from 8 to 110 years old, we break the mould by welcoming actors of all ages to audition. This reflects our deep commitment to inclusivity and community engagement.
What if I am not good enough?
There is no such thing as not good enough. There's only one of you. We're eager to meet you, uncover your unique talents, and envision the wonderful collaboration we could create together.
Can anyone audition and be part of StoryBook?
YES! We firmly believe that the richness of our stories lies in the diversity and inclusivity of our community. Our stage is a reflection of the world around us, and we're committed to creating an environment where every individual, regardless of age, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, or ethnicity, feels empowered to unleash their creativity. We welcome and encourage all voices to join us in crafting unforgettable narratives both on and off the stage.
What if I cannot do all of the scheduled shows?
That is ok! Should scheduling conflicts arise due to prior employment commitments, we encourage you to still audition. While we cannot guarantee accommodations for all performance dates, alternative arrangements may be possible to ensure your participation. Don't let this deter you from engaging in the audition process; your talent and dedication are valued, and we're committed to exploring solutions to support your inclusion.
The first step is the easiest: take the leap and audition for our season either in person or through self-tape by the audition deadline.
Invites, along with specific materials to be prepared will then be sent to those folx whom each team would like to see more from at the audition callback.
Each show has its own callback; see the commitment info below for specific dates.
Each show will then see a group of people who have been asked to prepare materials for the callback date. You may be asked to be seen for several shows and therefore have multiple shows to prepare for. Please plan to stay for the full duration of each callback you are invited to.
After callbacks are complete each team will them decide which artist best suits each role. All those cast in the show will be contacted first. Everyone will hear regardless of the outcome. Everything is done via email.

Tips from the StoryBook Theatre team:

Take the time to set up your space! Make sure your video is well lit, and that you are auditioning against a simple, non-distracting background. When framing your video, face the camera and allow yourself enough room to move and perform.

Optimize your audio. Ensure that we can hear your voice clearly and without distraction. Avoid performing in an echoey space. Please have accompanying music play from a separate device, ideally from somewhere behind you so that your voice can stand out.

Check your audition video before submitting. Do a final review to ensure that the video and audio in your submission has captured your audition successfully.

Audition Preparation
Everyone auditioning, whether in person or by video submission, is required to prepare:

One song, no longer than two minutes

One monologue, no longer than one minute
Those auditioning in person must submit their accompaniment track through the link below at least one day before their scheduled audition.
You do not need to bring a printed headshot or résumé.
Those attending an in-person audition should check in at the box office upon arrival.
Video Auditions
For those unable to attend in person—or who prefer the flexibility of recording at home—we welcome video submissions throughout the audition window.
Video submissions must include both the prepared song and monologue outlined above.
Our 51st Season will offer another exciting year of bold stories, unforgettable characters and opportunities for artists of all experience levels. We cannot wait to meet the incredible performers who will help bring it to life.
