If ever there was a show that perfectly captures the heart of our 49th Season to be Brave, it’s Shrek The Musical. Underneath its layers of laughter, glitter, and green makeup lies a powerful message about self-acceptance, friendship, and the courage to defy expectations.
At its core, Shrek is a story about embracing the parts of ourselves that don’t quite “fit the mold”—and celebrating them. It’s about standing tall in your uniqueness, daring to love without fear, and choosing to build your own version of “happily ever after.” And in a world that often asks us to blend in, that kind of bravery is revolutionary.
This musical is bursting with life: high-energy songs, larger-than-life characters, and humour that entertains all ages. But it’s also a deeply human story—a reminder that everyone deserves to be seen, to be heard, and to be loved for exactly who they are. That message couldn’t be more relevant or important.
In staging Shrek The Musical, we’re not just putting on a fun and fantastical production. We’re inviting audiences to laugh, to cheer, and to reflect on what it means to be different—and why that difference should be celebrated.
Thank you for sharing in this joyful act of courage. And thank you for supporting a season where bravery takes many forms—including a big green ogre with a Scottish accent.
With love and laughter,
JP Thibodeau

Shrek the Musical is a hilarious and heartfelt stage adaptation of the DreamWorks animated film, featuring music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. The show follows Shrek, a gruff but good-hearted ogre who lives happily alone in his swamp—until his solitude is disrupted by a horde of fairy-tale creatures exiled there by the villainous Lord Farquaad. Determined to reclaim his peace, Shrek sets out to confront Farquaad, only to find himself reluctantly teamed up with the endlessly talkative Donkey.
When Farquaad strikes a deal to clear the swamp in exchange for rescuing the princess Fiona, Shrek embarks on a quest that turns into an unexpected journey of friendship, love, and self-discovery. Along the way, he learns that Fiona harbors her own secrets—and that real beauty isn’t about appearances, but about being true to who you are. Their unlikely connection blossoms into something genuine, challenging both of them to rethink what “happily ever after” really means.
With its witty humor, powerful ballads, and dazzling production numbers, Shrek the Musical celebrates individuality, acceptance, and the courage to stand proud in your own skin. It’s a joyful and irreverent fairy tale that turns the traditional storybook world upside down, proving that even an ogre can be the hero of his own story.
