Season 45 | Season of Hope
HOPE is being able to see that there is light
despite all of the darkness.
The Covid-19 pandemic plunged our theatre community into darkness, shutting down companies across the globe, with little information about how and when we would return. With tenacity and resilience, StoryBook Theatre was proud to present our shortented 44th Season through online streaming, right into people's homes. And while it wasn't quite the same as sharing our stories together with our patrons, we are grateful for the support and applause we felt from theatre audiences from around the world. Thank you for all the ways you showed you were #togetherwithsbt.
With hope in our hearts, we are thrilled to announce that StoryBook WILL be moving forward with our 45th Season, through an innovative combination of online streaming, outdoor concerts, and indoor in-person experiences. Should the restrictions placed on live presentations change in the coming months we will update our planning accordingly. Review all our safety measures and how we plan to KEEP EVERYONE SAFE here.
By the holidays, we are optimistic that StoryBook will be able to share shows with our audiences again, live and in-person, welcoming you once again into our home at the Beddington Theatre Arts Centre Stage!

The Top Secret Musical can be purchased as an add-on and will receive a discounted price but it does not factor in as a show option for Subscriptions.
StoryBook also offers a multi-payment plan for those wishing to spread out the payment process for a minimal fee.

*in order to qualify for a subscription at least three shows must be selected for at least one person in your party. Therefore if you are choosing the streaming option for Theory of Relativity you only need to do this for one person in your subscription purchase.
July 5 at 9am - Subscription Renewals
Renewals are ONLY for those patrons who made a subscription purchase for the 2020/21 Season which was presented all online. We appreciate that this option did not work for everyone but we need to honour those that were able to continue to support us even when we did not know what the future had in store.
July 19 at 9am - New Subscriptions
What does it mean to become a subscriber?
As a subscriber, you get the following perks and incentives when making your commitment to us this season.
FIRST CHOICE OF SEATS
As a subscriber, you received access to all the tickets before the general public. And this year, this is a very important perk as we only released 50% of our seating capacity for all our shows. Seating capacities will only increase once municipal regulations allow for it. We hope that our spring shows will, in some way, be in person. Your chosen seats will remain yours for those productions pending our ability to present live.
As a subscriber, you paid one flat fee for all your tickets regardless of show length or age of attendees. If a show were to be presented in person, the rest of the general audience would pay based on show length and age. With those shows presented online, you received $3.00 off each and every ticket you purchased and will receive this same discount on future equivalent ticket purchases.
As a subscriber, you were invited to take advantage of our payment plan, which allowed your subscription payments to be spread out over 2 equal payments.
NO EXCHANGE FEES
You are invited to exchange your seating up to once per production for a total of four times at no additional cost.
All patrons must have a ticket. No babes in arms. All shows are assigned seating.

How we plan to KEEP EVERYONE SAFE
Let us start by saying that the safety of our cast, crew, volunteers, patrons and community is paramount and our plan to move forward will always adhere to the regulations set forth by the federal, provincial and municipal governments.
For those wondering how we plan to make this all work on a production side please visit our SAFE REHEARSALS page for more information. This page will be updated as restrictions evolve. Continue reading below for the information as it relates to our audience.
As we plan to move forward with HOPE! Rather than hide from the current regulations, we have made the choice to embrace them. We know this could mean that we will not be presenting our shows to a live theatre audience as soon as we all would like, but we are also excited by the potential this challenge presents. Should we not be able to present our show in person, we will move forward with measures to stream all our programming exclusively to our ticket holders online, as we did last season. This plan will ensure that everyone will still receive our top-quality productions by an incredible community of artists allowing us to continue to engage with our community.
Please know that we are very optimistic that, in the coming months, we will be able to see an audience of some shape and size join us LIVE for our productions like they used to. As the provincial and municipal guidelines for public gatherings and socialization shift and adjust, we are ready and prepared to do the same, moving closer and closer to bringing our community back together again and do what we do best.
Here is a snapshot of our current plan and how it relates to our audience.
We will follow the approved AHS Guidance when it comes to masking when at our performances. We encourage those in attendance to do what makes them feel safe.
Our first two productions, Singers @ Sunset and The Theory of Relativity will be presented outdoors and will be restricted to small audience capacities. All tables will be distanced and chairs will all be movable should a patron wish to make more room for themselves away from others.
Indoor performances have been announced and sales will commence with a seating capacity of 50% of the allowable limit. When booking, your seating will automatically add empty seats next to yours keeping our audience socially distanced. Should restrictions ease and allowable capacities increased, those empty seats will become available for sale.
THINGS TO KNOW WHEN PURCHASING
With an uncertain future for live theatre performances and assembly, we plan to sell tickets to our productions with the following considerations being made:
All tickets will be sold as usual with guests selecting their desired seating for each person attending the show.
All performances will be limited to just 50% of our occupancy being sold, with seats blocked out to ensure proper social distancing.
Should government regulations move to Stage 3 and StoryBook feels it is safe to do so, all additional seats will be released, and the house will be open to full capacity.
Tickets are being sold with the hope that all of our performances will be live and in-person but with the understanding that alternative options may be required should regulations not allow this to happen.
Sixty days out from the opening night of each production, a final decision will be made based on regulations at that time on how the performance will move forward whether it be in streaming format online, live in person in the theatre, or a combination of the two. Read more about Streaming here.
When the time comes to present our productions live and in-person all social gathering protocols will be adhered to and any safety measures being taken will be noted in an email prior to arrival for the show.
All our policies have been updated to reflect our current times and will apply to all new purchases. The following are two key policies to be made aware of. The full list of policies can be found here.
