This year, SBT is proud to partner with Little Red Reading House, whose goal is to inspire a lifetime of reading and learning! All the books will be donated to families who need them through Little Red Reading House's Book Bank, which helps "feed the hearts and minds of children by giving them their very own books."

You can also donate online! Starting at $10, your donation will go towards purchasing new books. StoryBook will use all the funds to support a local bookstore, so everyone wins!

Please keep in mind that the books you are giving will become another child's treasure. Only give books that are of high quality and in very good condition. We cannot accept books that are tattered, scribbled on, written in, or missing covers. Thank you!

SHOW SUMMARY

Based on the 1968 film of the same name, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang tells the story of an eccentric inventor named Caractacus Potts who, with the help of his children Jeremy and Jemima, sets about restoring an old race car from a scrap heap. THE SHERMAN BROTHERS

The work of the brothers Richard M Sherman and Robert B Sherman is enjoying a fresh chapter of success in musical theatre with sensational stage revivals of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins now playing across the UK. Chitty originally opened in the West End in 2002 going on to become the longest-running musical ever at the London Palladium, before playing Broadway and beyond, garnering huge international success.

The stage production of Mary Poppins, co-produced by Disney and Cameron Mackintosh, opened to critical acclaim in London in 2004, winning two Olivier Awards, with the Broadway production running for six years. The Jungle Book, another Shermans/Disney favourite, has also recently made the screen-to-stage transition, premiering at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago. (MTI)

DIRECTOR'S NOTES

FROM THE DIRECTOR

The music and lyrics from the team known as the Sherman Brothers have been delighting audiences with their hummable tunes for decades. From 'It's a Small World' to 'The Bare Necessities,' their music has marked many of our childhoods, and their work is an integral part of the soundtrack for families around the world. The duo is perhaps most famous for writing and composing the score for what is considered to be Disney's crowning live-action film Mary Poppins.

In 1968, the Sherman brothers were approached to musicalize Ian Fleming's book Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang: The Magical Car. The film, starring Dick Van Dyke, is considered to be one of the most popular and charming British movies made for families.

In this stage adaptation of the enchanting musical, we are presented with the story of a determined and resilient widowed inventor, Caractacus Potts. Along with his two children and their eccentric grandfather, the Potts family will take us on a journey filled with delectable villains, perilous travels and fascinating adventures, all while riding their incredible automobile.

The cast and team behind this production have found the true meaning of teamwork. They have proven that the power of creating as a community can translate into a performance that ignites with cheer and heart, warming our souls through these cold winter days.
We hope you sing and dance along with us, and celebrate the holidays through this phantasmagorical ride!
