2019/20 AUDITIONS

AUDITION SUBMISSIONS

 

StoryBook Theatre is seeking two female-identifying dancers/movers with a strong dance/movement background for their upcoming production of THE NEVERENDING STORY.

 

These two dancers/movers will be a major component in the physical representation of key characters within the play through the use of puppetry and movement.  Actors must be in strong physical condition. 

 

Artists are asked to submit a resume and headshot for consideration and should be available for the entire run of shows and as much of the rehearsal process as possible with such short notice.

2020/21 SEASON AUDITIONS

Most auditions are open to anyone ages 16+ and there are some audition slots for shows requiring students 10 to 15.  The bulk of all StoryBook programming is performed by adults. When deciding to audition be sure to review the SHOW INFORMATION SHEETS to understand the scope:f the commitment required to participate in a StoryBook production.

StoryBook produces shows using volunteer actors with professional production teams including professional directors, designers and choreographers.  We do also offer  some artists bursaries or scholarships when casting decisions are made. To find out more about this program please visit this page.

ACTOR FEE CONSIDERATION

All toryBook Auditions are open to anyone and everyone.  The audition process is also a learning environment where a panel of up to 4 working theatre professionals watch your audition and make notes which are then passes along to the production team for consideration. Auditions dates are as follows:
 

Sunday, MAY 24 - 7pm to 10pm
Tuesday, MAY 26 - 7pm to 10pm

Wednesday, MAY 27 - 6pm to 10pm

Sunday, MAY 31 - 7pm to 10pm

Tuesday, JUNE 2 - 7pm to 10pm

Wednesday, JUNE 3 - 7pm to 10pm

Sunday, JUNE 7 - 2pm to 10pm

Tuesday, JUNE 9 - 7pm to 10pm

Wednesday, JUNE 10 - 6pm to 10pm

Saturday, JUNE 13 - 1pm to 6pm

Sunday, JUNE 14 - 7pm to 10pm

*please note all auditions are recorded for casting purposes.

 

There are two types of auditioners.  Those wishing to be seen for MUSICALS and those for just PLAYS.  Please see criteria below based on your audition preference.

 

Students must be 10 years old at the time of auditions.  There are a minimum number of slots available to students.

 

1. SINGING & ACTING AUDITIONERS

Those wishing to be seen for plays and musicals should prepare:

- Two contrasting pieces of musical theatre approximately 32 bars.

- One comedic monologue no longer than 1 minute
 

All songs must be accompanied by a track or pianist.  
A piano and sound dock will be made available for use.  
There will be NO PIANIST provided.

 

2. ACTING ONLY AUDITIONERS
Those wishing to be seen for just plays should prepare:

10 to 16 years

- ONE MONOLOGUE

16 years or older

- TWO CONTRASTING MONOLOGUES

 

Due to the overwhelming response we receive for our auditions please understand that we may only choose to see only one of the items you have prepared  and if you go longer than the time allotted you will be cut off.

THURSDAY, JUNE 18 - 6:30pm to 10:30pm

SHOW SPECIFIC CALLBACKS ARE SCHEDULED AS FOLLOWS:

SHOW # 1- Sunday, June 21 - 10am to 6pm

SHOW #2 - Monday, June 22 - 6:30pm to 10:30pm

SHOW #3 - Tuesday, June 23 - 6:30pm to 10:30pm

SHOW #4 - Wednesday, June 24 - 6:30pm to 10:30pm

SHOW #5 - Thursday, June 25 - 6:30pm to 10:30pm

SHOW #6 - Friday, June 26 - 6:30pm to 10:30pm

SHOW #7 - Saturday, June 27 - 10am to 6pm

CASTING WILL BE COMPLETE BY SATURDAY, JULY 11th.  Only those cast I productions will be notified.  Once casting is complete an email will be circulated to all candidates informing them of the decision.
