Our Program

StoryBook Theatre operates an inclusive, year round, theatre school for children aged 6-18. Our mandate is Family, Creativity and Community. Students of all levels of experience are encouraged to attend.

Curriculum

All of our programming is performance based. The curriculum has been designed with the intention of children developing acting skills, self-confidence, teamwork skills, and stagecraft abilities. We encourage students to develop and deepen their knowledge of self and their craft, through games, stage work, analyzing and writing scripts and presenting a final performance.

Each level shares a common curriculum that is age appropriate and challenges students throughout their progression, so that they may develop at their own pace. We concentrate on teamwork, storytelling, projection and articulation.

Registration

Registration is completed online by filling out the registration form. Payment is due prior to the commencement of each course. For those facing financial challenges, please contact us to discuss options that can help make it manageable for you.

Parents can expect to receive an orientation package by email a few days prior to the students first day. On the first day of class, parental consent/waiver forms will be available at the registration table, and parents need to complete one of these for each child they are registering.

Junior Theatre Camp (Ages 6-8)

Young students are given an introduction to the stage. They explore theatre through games, songs and movement. They will work on their storytelling skills, team work and build confidence, while exploring elements of creativity, voice and movement.

Intermediate Theatre Camp (ages 9-12)

Once your child has become familiar with the stage we will spend more time on voice and movement. Scripts can be pre-selected or student driven, or a combination of both. Students at this level will start working on memorization, and exploring their unique creativity. They will spend time working on expression, character development and script analysis. Special skills, such as Stage combat, may be introduced (depending on the show).

Senior Theatre Camp (Ages 13-18)

The Sr. Theatre School session will create a performance while developing students as artists. Focus will be on voice, movement, acting and improvisation. In many of our sessions, students will work to create the script used in the final performance. During the creation process students will learn about story, style, monologues and character. Other activities that students may partake in are: stage combat, dance, stage makeup, mask and more.
