Spotlight for Young People & Spotlight for Teens
PROGRAM INFO
The Spotlight program is a 13-week musical preparation course where students are emerged into the process of putting on a musical. From auditions, rehearsals to live-performance all students will experience what it is like to be part of real musical theatre production.
Taught by working professional actors, singers and dancers students will learn the ins and outs of the performance industry including acting, singing and dancing.
The final two days of. the program culminates in a live performance where parents and friends are invited to share in the work of the students. As this program is about building on the skillsets of the students, costumes and sets are not a part of the final production.
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
Classes will take place in person at the Beddington Theatre Arts Centre.
FINAL PRESENTATION
The final will be sold as theatre tickets for parents to purchase. There will be one performance for each of our Spotlight programs allowing family and friends to join in the final presentation of work.
FAMILY PROGRAMMING FOR ALL
StoryBook is the leading theatre arts programming for youth in our city. Our "NEVER SAY NO TO A CHILD" mantra allows everyone, regardless of socioe-conomic status to take part in our programming.
In a typical year, StoryBook offers nearly $100,000 in free or subsidized programming to families and children who may not otherwise be able to afford it. If you or someone you know would benefit from our programming and may require financial support, please complete our online form and we will be certain to make some theatre magic.

FOR AGES 9 to 12: Join us this summer for an underwater adventure with music from the songwriters of Frozen and the trending TikTok song "Where's my Dad"!
Disney’s Finding Nemo KIDS is a 30-minute musical adaptation of the beloved 2003 Pixar movie Finding Nemo, with new music by award-winning songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves.
Featuring memorable songs such as “Just Keep Swimming,” “Fish Are Friends Not Food,” and “Go With the Flow,” Finding Nemo KIDS brings a vibrant underwater world to life on stage in a story full of family, friendship, and adventure.

Final presentations are performed live in the theatre at the Beddington Theatre Arts Centre. A friends and family performance will take place in the theatre on the last Thursday of the program with a camp performance on the final day.
