Spring Rhapsody
Since 2000, Spring Rhapsody has been a key component of StoryBook
Theatre's annual fundraising. It has evolved and taken on a flavour of
its own. This year we are proud to announce our 8th Annual Spring
Rhapsody theme of "Mardi Gras in May"
which will take place on Saturday, May 26th, 2007 at 7:00pm.
What could you expect if you attended Rhapsody?
Rhapsody involves the whole upper floor of the Community Arts Centre
on the Currie Barracks. Each room contains what we call a 'chef feature
station' that serves a variety of hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, in
keeping with our theme. There is also live entertainment that suits the
background and the mood of the night. The intent is that you can graze
though each room, enjoy the food and the music, and chat with your
friends in a relaxed environment.
At the same time, there are a variety of auction items that are up
for bid and wandering through the Centre gives you a chance to look at
them. There are generally 3 styles of auction items:
* Bucket raffles
* Silent auction
* Live Auction
Historically
Spring Rhapsody generally attracts over 175 people with about 40
volunteers that provide the logistical support during the night. Each
year contributes approximately $25,000 to aid our artistic and
educational programming. There are usually about 100 to 140 items to
bid on, raffles, draws, food , beverage and entertainment.
Spring Rhapsody is an extension of the quality and fun you have come
to expect from the rest of StoryBook Theatre's programming. This
adult-only evening features a well-stocked cash bar, appetizers, a
variety of musical entertainment.
Contributions are used to enhance and expand StoryBook Theatre's programming for the highest possible impact.
Donations to Rhapsody
All of the items in the auctions and raffles come from the hard work
of our Merchandise Committee. We ask our friends, relatives, businesses
that we frequent personally, restaurants, theatres - looking for things
that would be of interest to our attendees. If you have some
connections or would like to help by donating something - we'd
appreciate the help. All donations receive a charitable tax receipt for
the appraised value of the item per Revenue Canada guidelines. Please
contact the office at 216-0808 if you are interested in helping.
There are generally half a dozen sponsors of this event each year.
All donations and sponsors receive recognition in our program as well
as a page of sponsor links.
